Amanda Brugel
(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. A lot of people who aren't aware of the name mistakenly believe that the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact the West Island includes everything westward from that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is commonly called her birthplace. However, she only stayed there for a short duration. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. She was determined to be professional, however due to a rapid growth spurt she outgrew all of her dancing partners. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I became too big for my male partners I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to act. For Brugel it was because of the advice by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her to take the step she required. It was her teacher who advised her to audition for the role of Anne for their school's annual production. She was able to audition and be cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she's been in over 60 productions, both on big screens as well as smaller screens. Her most notable role was as Rita (pictured below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member for the season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
